Cecilia and Michael's reception was in one of our favorite places, The Tiffany Ballroom at Heaven On Earth on Sunday.
They were married at the on-site chapel and the reception then moved down into the banquet room where we were primed and ready to start the introductions.
The bridal party and newlyweds were amped and introduced to "Celebration" by Kool & The Gang and went into their first dance “At Last” by Raul Malo a very unique remake of the original by Etta James. It is a great song! The crowd was eating it up and so were we. After the first dance the family and guests gathered for pictures with the newlyweds and a beautiful blessing was given by a friend of the newlyweds. The excellent buffet opened and everyone enjoyed.
On to the cake cutting and toast. Now this was one of the most unique toast we had every heard because the bestman could not attend the wedding due to his role as chief aid in the relief efforts of Hurricane Irene in Virginia (our condolences go out to all of the victims of the incident). At Signature Eventx our aim is to please so we connected our cell phone to the speakers and he dedicated his heartfelt toast to the newlyweds, through the sound system so all the guests could hear. Right before we opened the dance floor we had the boquet & garter toss!
Once the dance floor opened, Cecilia left that part up to us. She said play great dance music and plenty of 80s. So, that is exactly what we did. We mixed KC & The Sunshine Band, The BeeGees, Michael Jackson and more.
The crowd response was amazing for a Sunday afternoon wedding and all of the guests had a great time.

Houston Wedding Showcase (Benefits of A Bridal Show) - August 27, 2011
We are proud to announce that we participated in another great bridal show in Houston. This time around it was the Houston Wedding Showcase at the George R. Brown convention center produced by Sonja van Florestein.
We love participating in the bridal shows first because we get to meet the vivid newlyweds face to face and second we get to connect with the area's leading wedding professionals here in Houston! The showcase was very distinct in its own way compared to the other bridal shows we had participated in as it is more intimate and creates a unique one on one experience for the brides and wedding professionals. With limited vendors in each category at the showcase this a great way of providing adequate time for the brides to get to know the vendors on a more personal level.
So enough talking about us …we gave you the reasons why we enjoy the bridal shows now here are a several reasons why newlyweds & prospective newlyweds should attend a bridal show (and stop by and meet Signature Eventx ;-)):
Bridal shows are very helpful if you are planning a wedding. You will meet and speak with local wedding professionals, see fashion shows, sample gourmet delights, register to win prizes, and probably have an enjoyable day.
Top tips for attending a bridal show
.BRING YOUR FIANCE, PARENTS, AND/OR BRIDESMAIDS. They can help you cover twice the ground and offer opinions about the choices of wedding merchants. (Note: About 30% of fiancés attend, in spite of what yours may assume! And they like cake samples, as you know.)
.PLAN TO SPEND TWO HOURS so you can visit all the wedding merchants and see at least one fashion preview. You will kick yourself if you don’t: nowhere else can you get as much done in as short of period of time.
.BRING PRE-PRINTED ADDRESS LABELS. Many vendors hold drawings for trips, prizes, and discounts: your labels save you from repeatedly writing your name and address.
.BRING YOUR CHECKBOOK if you might want to book services or hold dates with a deposit. The top photographers, caterers, florists, and DJs book up quickly.
.BRING YOUR CALENDAR. You will find vendors with whom you would like to schedule a one-on-one consultation.
.ARRIVE WITH A PLAN. Know what you are looking for and have questions in mind. You will save time and you will see everything that’s important to you.
.WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES. You will stroll many aisles!
.IF YOU ARE OUT OF TOWN… send mom or a trusted friend to collect information on services you need and register you for prizes.
.ASK QUESTIONS! The vendors are there to help you. You are under no pressure to buy from them, so find out everything you need to know.

Wilder/Rogers Reception - August 21, 2011
After a very busy week with two open houses the first was "The Event" at the Sheraton Hotel on Thursday, the other Saturday at Heaven On Earth, and finishing the work week with the rehearsal party for Lanessa & David's ceremony, it was time to get down to wedding business on Sunday! Lanessa and David's ceremony and reception were both held at Demers Banquet Hall. This place is great for all types events! We love it!
The day began with an evening ceremony and Lanessa's mom, Vanessa worked hand in hand with us in coordinating the reception and the announcements! We love when the events are coordinated in a timely manner and Vanessa made sure all the i's were dotted and t's were crossed! (Thanks Mom!) Brian handled the announcements and the guests patiently waited as we mixed the music for the ceremony until the stunning bride entered in to "You For Me" by Johnny Gill.
After the ceremony the guests proceeded outside for a brief cocktail hour and the banquet hall was rearranged for the reception. As soon as the guests entered, we went out to line up the really fired up bridal party. They were introduced to “So In Love” by Jill Scott & Anthony Hamilton. It was so awesome and they rocked it when they came in! As soon as David and Lanessa hit the floor, it was time for them to do their first dance to a custom mix of “I Swear” by All-4-One & "Point of It All" by Anthony Hamilton and ending with an energetic "Scarred" by Uncle Luke… Great songs, great dances.
After that, it was dinner time! They had a grand seated dinner and even the vendors got to grab a quick bite! After dinner, we moved into the cake cutting and the guests were already making their way to dance floor as we played hits like "Wifey" by Next, "Let's Get Married" by Jagged Edge, and "Candy" by Cameo. By that time the floor was starting to get packed and we hadn't even finished the cake cutting, but the newlyweds were ready to party too so we started the party early and it kept going till the last dance! This was not your typical Sunday wedding the guests were partying like it was the beginning of the weekend and they had just left work! WOW!
Midway we got to the bouquet & garter toss! David put on a show for the garter toss as he approached his bride to unveil the garter we played Prince, "Call My Name" and mixed into "So Fresh, So Clean" by Outkast as he threw out the garter to the bachelors!
We ran through so many party songs from current hits to throwback jams like Poison, Da Dip, and even a train line through the venue to Quad City Dj's, "C'Mon Ride The Train" with our newlyweds leading the way. What a blast! The energy was at an all-time high for the newlyweds and their guests. Need we remind you again it was a Sunday! All in all this was a great wedding and we were excited because we were able to work with two other amazing vendors Anjanette D. Edlemo directed the ceremony and the amazing pictures are by photographer Caston Richard of Priceless Photos!!! Check out his work!

Price/Gourley Reception – August 13, 2011
Lacie and Jeff’s Saturday reception took place at Houston’s Heaven On Earth. Even though this place is 113 years old, it is an awesome venue to have a reception. The venue was restored in the 70s and has produced more than 8,000 weddings in the last 40 years. We really enjoy performing there and Susan and the staff there are on the ball.
As soon as the bridal party arrived, we lined them up for intros. The bridal party entered to the instrumental “Bella’s Lullaby” by Carter Burwell from the Twilight soundtrack and proceeded into their first dance song by Corey Smith, “First Dance”. Loved It, great selection for all my Texas country music lovers!
Thereafter, the guest moved into the dining room for a great barbeque buffet! As dinner ended several people gave toast and the lovely cakes were cut. (Check out the pics of the cakes! Wow factor!) Thereafter, the parents dance took place. Lacie danced with her father to “Pea Pie” by Brandon Rhyder and Jeff danced with his mother to Aaron Lines’s “20 Years Late”. We also provided a custom slide show for the newlyweds and everyone was in awe and tears from the pictures of the couple.
Finally it was time to open the dance floor. Jeff & Lacie wanted to get the bridal party out there first with the “Cupid Shuffle”, and after the first chorus all the guest jumped on. The floor was packed! We ran through all types of music during the night country, oldies, rock even playing some current stuff at the end of the night like LMFAO and Black Eyed Peas. The final song was “Us Song” by Stoney Larue another great Texas country selection! It was the perfect way to end the night. We sent the guest out to line up outside with their bottles of bubbles in hand, and Jeff & Lacie rode off into the night. It was an awesome night and the guest left giving us kudos and they loveddd the pink uplighting we set-up.
